Educational Therapy is a specialised form of intervention that supports children with learning and thinking differences. Unlike traditional tuition, which often focuses on completing homework or practising academic content, Educational Therapy seeks to understand and address the underlying causes of a child's learning difficulties.
Educational Therapists are trained to identify the specific skills that may be impacting a child's progress and provide targeted support to strengthen those areas. For example, rather than repeatedly practising mathematics questions, an Educational Therapist may recognise that a child is struggling with foundational number sense and teach strategies to develop a stronger understanding of numbers and mathematical concepts.
Educational Therapy goes beyond academic instruction. It aims to build the skills, confidence, and learning strategies children need to become more successful and independent learners. Educational Therapists also work collaboratively with parents and educators by providing recommendations and strategies to support the child across different environments.
